Lemon and ginger – my favourite detox drink!

This Recipe is going to blow your mind.
It is simple, easy, delicious and effective.

As soon as you wake up first thing in the morning, before you eat your breakfast, before you drink or before you do anything, make this drink your priority and watch feeling and looking better in no time.

 Pour a cup of water in a pan and bring it to heat until it reaches warm temperature. Not hot, so its drinkable.

Cut a half piece of lemon and squeeze the juice out of it into the cup.

Peel fresh ginger and grate it. Once its grated, take it in your hand and squeeze the juice out of it into the same cup.

When the water is ready, add to the cup. Mix all ingredients together and drink it.
If it tastes too sour, you can always smooth the taste with a half or one teaspoon of organic honey.

This has been my morning routine for years and I absolutely love the benefits:

LEMONS – help with weight loss and prevent high cholesterol. They are rich in Vitamin C and help with prevention of colds and flu. They might be acidic to taste, but they are very alkaline to our body. And the more alkaline our body is, the healthier we are. They also contain powerful antibacterial properties and they are great stimulant for our liver.

GINGER – it is know to be as one of the healthiest spices on the earth. Its not only great to spice up your recipes, but it has been used for centuries in traditional and alternative medicine. Ginger is very anti-inflammatory so great to be used amongst people with osteoarthritis. It also lowers blood sugar levels and aids digestion.

These two powerful two ingredients, when combined together with warm water and consumed in the morning, they ease bowel movement, they feed the body with antioxidants, ease constipation, remove excess fat and improves your skin quality. The result of all this is looking slim, vibrant and beautiful.

I would strongly advise that you add this to the list of morning routines, every single day for the next 30 days and watch what happens.

5 not-so-guilty pleasures

I always say that life is about Balance. Balance with the food choices you make, balance with the intensity of your physical training, Balance in sleeping, partying and many more. I advice my clients that even the healthy choices we make, when being used in extreme ways that can turn out to be not so healthy. So why not playing the 80/20 rule? If 80% of your diet is sustainable, clean and whole foods, then 20% of your diet can be filled with guilty or not-so-guilty pleasures. This can only make you realize and appreciate your healthy lifestyle and the impact that it has on your everyday life.

I decided to share Top 5 Not-So-Guilty Pleasures that add richness to our taste and life and if eaten and used In moderation, they have their benefits and they make our life tasty.

1. Dark Chocolate

This sweet, creamy, delicious nature made produce its packed with calories but also contains heart-healthy substances such as polyphenol flavonoids, that help to improve the functioning of cells in the arteries, including heart arteries and this leads to preventing of a plaque buildup and protecting against high blood pressure. The darker the chocolate, the higher its nutritional potency. When its not mixed with milk or white processed sugar, you can’t eat a lot of it in its natural form, since it has strong taste. Two to three bites will satisfy your tooth, but if you feel like eating more than that, then pause and sit down. Ask yourself whether you really want more, because the truth is, one bite tastes the same as 20. And if you happen to eat a lot, the key is to not beat yourself up about it, we all do it form time to time.

2. Coffee

Who can resist the morning smell of a warm cup of coffee! Caffeine, the most widely used psychoactive substance of the world, it’s very complex and has been researched for years whether it has the same health benefits as decaf.

Coffee can boost your physical performance, which results to burning more fat and losing weight. It does also contain antioxidants so it can help your body fighting unnecessary toxins; however if it’s a cheap, bad label than can also be highly toxic. If you drink a lot during the day, it will cause insomnia and restlessness in the long term. Coffee can help with your bowel movements, but if your body is dehydrated, then it will cause constipation or make one even worse. I would advice you that one cup of coffee a day is enough. The less you drink, the more you give opportunity to your body to reproduce its own natural energy. If you have cravings for more, try to balance with herbal green tea or Matcha Green Tea.

3.Wine

When its time to celebrate, a glass of wine is always a good choice.

Red wine is definitely a better choice than white, since it contains more heart=healthy benefits and is less acidic for your teeth. Both red and white contain about the same amount of calories.

Wine in general, can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke as well as decrease the risk of developing gallstones. This is only in cases when its drank in moderation, for example one glass a day. If its drank in high quantities, then it increases the risk of breast cancer and other alcohol related disease.

4. Cheese

Oh, how appetizing is good fermented cheese, especially with a glass of red wine! Most cheese contains more essential nutrients than many other foods. In cheese we can find zinc, vitamin B12 and vitamin A, calcium and proteins.

Cheese can also strengthen your bones and your teeth. But if you eat too much, then you will gain weight as it contains a lot of health.
Another bad factor of eating too much cheese it contains not natural products, such as Bovine Growth Hormone, which can be very harmful to your health with long lasting effect. It is important that cheese is eaten in moderation and carefully selected the type of cheese and where its been produced.

5. Nuts

When you are looking for a snack that is delicious, nutritious and not-so-guilty, then look no further than a handful of good nuts: Almonds, Peanuts, Cashews, Brazil Nuts, Hazelnuts, Walnuts. But aware, they also can be very healthy and harmful too.

Small amount of nuts can be very nutritious to your health, since they contain vitamins, manganese, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus and etc. Eating high amounts of nuts, will quickly lead to a weight gain due to their high amounts of saturated fat.

SO you see, everything has its own good and bad side and the key to optimal health to create a balance and create your own Taste for Life!
